Indicator Tool

November 29, 2024

Indicators are frequently used in social development to measure evidence of change. They constitute a key component of most monitoring and evaluation systems, but identifying the best set of indicators to use for a specific project can often be a daunting task—particularly for organizations who are just starting out on their M&E journeys.

We’ve compiled this tool to help make that process a little easier. While by no means exhaustive, the indicators in this database are drawn from a wide range of sources and have relevance across a variety of intervention models and the full spectrum of SDG sectors.

To find indicators relevant to your work, use the SDG Sector and Intervention Model selections below to apply filters to the table. Use the Reset button to clear out any applied filters before starting a new search.

Sources include the UN Department of Economic and Social AffairsIRIS+Urban InstituteYouthPowerWorld Bank, and World Health Organization among others.
