“A shoutout to all of you who are not sitting on your power and privilege and are exploring the delicate line between grantmaking and changemaking.” —Dedo Baranshamaje, Director of Strategy

In 2022, Segal Family Foundation was the second largest US grantmaker in Sub-Saharan Africa by number of grants given. Segal Family Foundation advances visions of social change by sharing what we’re learning with donors. We compile evidence from our amazing partners and beyond to build support for local solutions and inclusive, grantee-centric practices.

We equip donors with diligence on our partners, insights, connections, and whatever else they need to start backing locally-led organizations with confidence.
