Colman Thadey Ndetembea
Colman Thadey Ndetembea co-founded Kyaro Assistive Tech as a design project for a multipurpose wheelchair in his final year of university in Tanzania. The project won second place in the 2019 Kesho Leo Science Slam and first place in the technical colleges category of the 2020 National Science, Technology, and Innovation Competition (MAKISATU). Today, Kyaro is a registered company that designs, manufactures, and provides appropriate, affordable, and appealing assistive devices for people with disabilities in Sub-Saharan Africa. Colman believes accessibility for all is necessary for Tanzania to develop without leaving anyone behind. His goal is to use assistive technology to contribute to the building of a society where people with disabilities can pursue their dreams without limitations.
