Usikimye (which translates to ‘do not be silent’ in Swahili) works to end the prevalence of sexual and gender-based violence and femicide through advocating, responding, supporting, and protecting survivors.
Why we love them
Usikimye stands at the forefront of driving public discourse and action on SGBV in Kenya. Its bold strategic litigation and advocacy to have femicide legally recognized as a distinct crime has the potential to set a regional precedent for the protection of women’s and human rights.
