John Rexford Nzira

As a Program Officer based in Arusha, Nzira manages partner relationships in Tanzania and seeks visionary Tanzanians to join the portfolio.

Before joining Segal Family Foundation, Nzira served as executive director at Twende, a leading makerspace and innovation hub, where he championed grassroots innovation through maker and innovation programs for youth and marginalized communities, reaching over 5,000 aspiring innovators. 

This work shaped his conviction that African communities, when equipped with the right tools and support, hold the best answers to their own challenges. An African Visionary Fellow and Mandela Washington Fellow, Nzira likes to call himself a “Fellow’s Fellow” and is excited to use his skills and experience to support a new generation of visionary leaders across Tanzania.
