Isabelle Kamariza
Isabelle Kamariza’s impact in Rwanda has been truly transformative. Through her organization, Solid’Africa, which she founded in 2010, she has pioneered a unique approach to addressing nutrition security, recognizing that access to affordable and adequate nutrition is a fundamental human right. In Rwanda, where hospital stays do not include meals, Solid’Africa has provided nutritious meals to close to 700,000 vulnerable individuals.
Her comprehensive and cost-effective approach goes beyond providing free meals to low-income patients in public hospitals. It extends to ensuring access to nutritious and affordable meals for both private and public institutions. Isabelle focuses on the entire process from farm to fork, emphasizing the importance of local, sustainable agriculture. By shifting the conversation around food security to nutrition security and integrating it into healthcare, she aims to address some of the underlying factors contributing to malnutrition. Through nutrition awareness and education programs, as well as a dedicated focus on agriculture, Isabelle addresses broader nutrition challenges.
