Spiwe Chakawa
At the forefront of Chiedza as executive director for over a decade, Spiwe Chakawa leads from the heart. Having witnessed firsthand how education can transform the lives of vulnerable communities, she advocates for children and youth who are at risk of falling through education gaps. Chiedza runs an early childhood development center, a second-chance program for children out of school, and nutrition and livelihood programs for parents and caregivers. Spiwe earned her MSc in development studies from the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe, and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology (honours) from the University of Zimbabwe; she is also an alumnus of the Common Purpose Global Leadership Program. The government of Zimbabwe recognized her efforts and appointed her to the Private Voluntary Organisations Board from 2016 to 2023. Beyond her career, Spiwe is a pastor.
