Robert Dolo
Robert Dolo, a Liberian cataract surgeon, started his career journey as a professional nurse at the Ganta United Methodist School of Nursing. In 2005, he obtained an advanced diploma in ophthalmic nursing at the Korlu Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra, Ghana. He worked as a supervisor in Crystal Eye Clinic, Ghana where he established an eye health rural community outreach program in partnership with Unite for Sight in 2009. He has a certificate in project and human resource management, obtained at the Pan-African Institute for Leadership & Governance Studies, Accra, Ghana. In 2010, he obtained advanced surgical ophthalmic training that qualified him as a cataract surgeon at the Regional Ophthalmic Training Program in The Gambia. Dr. Dolo served as the National Eye Health Coordinator at the Ministry of Health from 2010-2012.
Dr. Dolo is the founder of New Sight Eye Center and currently serves as executive director and the head cataract surgeon. Together with his hardworking staff at New Sight Eye Center, Dr. Dolo provides high-quality eye health services for people living in Liberia. Through their delegated services, the center is promoting basic eye health services and significantly contributing to attaining the Millennium Sustainable Goals. Under his able leadership, he successfully established a post basic ophthalmic training program at New Sight Eye Center. He also established the Liberian Government Hospital Eye Center in Grand Bassa County, supported by the Lions Clubs International Foundation through a public-private partnership with the Government of Liberia via the Ministry of Health.
