An illustrated portrait of Patience Khembo

Patience Khembo

Patience is the founder and Executive Director of Ladder to Learning, a non-profit organization in Malawi that amplifies the learning experience of students through diverse educational services that complement the national school curriculum. She has been in the education sector for over seven years, working with low-resource primary schools in Malawi to help give underserved students access to high quality education.

Patience’s passion for improving the learning conditions of students is premised on an opportunity she herself had for a meaningful and transformative education. This experience enabled her to discover her creative talents and love for community service at an early age. Recognising the privilege she’d had, Patience was always bothered that many students in public schools do not have the same—so she resolved to one day give back to her community. Thus inspired, she established Ladder to Learning as a platform to improve schoolchildren’s learning outcomes.

Patience is an honorary member of the Rotary Club, a Social Impact Incubator Rising Star awardee, and a member of the Youth Core Advisory Panel for the Malawi 2063 national vision. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Communication, another in marketing, and is currently studying for her MBA at the University of Malawi.
