Mariam Abdalla
Mariam Abdalla was born and raised in Faza, a small village within Lamu Archipelago. She attended the University of Eldoret to study tourism management. In 2014, she joined Safari Doctors as an intern. During her time with Safari Doctors, Mariam has played a key role in building and leading the team, as well as managing and scaling their medical outreach. In 2020, her work was recognized when she won the award for Kenya’s Top 35 Under 35 in health.
As a young woman from Lamu, Mariam has faced gender discrimination in access to education and in leadership. She is passionate about breaking down gender barriers and being a mentor and role model to other girls and women in her community.
