Kwame Mwakio
Kwame is co-founder and programs director at Hatua Network. Raised in the poorest part of Mombasa, Kwame has first-hand experience of what it means to grow up in a low-income family. His passion to impact young people positively is driven by the challenges he faced while growing up. Through Hatua Network, Kwame is providing scholarships, mentoring, and career guidance to 500 students from low-income families. He has graduated 70 students who have returned to their communities and are contributing to the economic development of their communities and country.
Kwame received an associate’s degree in liberal arts from the Kenyan National Coast Polytechnic and a second associate’s degree in social sciences from the Amani Institute in Kenya.
