Kiiya Joel Kiiya

Kiiya is a development specialist with over 15 years of experience. While still a college student in 2009, he founded C-Sema Tanzania, an organization that wants to see a Tanzania where the rights of every child are realized. Currently, the organization serves 1.2 million children every year and Kiiya leads as chief executive.

Kiiya holds an LL.B from the Open University and a master’s in social innovation from University of Turin. Over the years, he has worked with teams to develop strategies aimed at giving voice to children and young people through evidence-generated data. He has been instrumental in building synergies to advance the children’s agenda in Tanzania. Kiiya pioneered the formation of the National Child Helpline in Tanzania, the Tanzania Child Online Protection Taskforce, and Missing Children Tanzania.
