Daniel Ogola

Dan Ogola is the founder and CEO of Matibabu Foundation, a charitable health organization. Dan has a proven executive management track record and over 15 years of experience improving quality of life to over 500,000 vulnerable poor in Siaya and Kisumu Counties. His community has entrusted him with eight acres of communal land on which he has mobilized the local community and other development partners to construct and operationalize a 72-bed inpatient and out-patient medical facility, the Women & Children Hospital in Ukwala, Ugenya Sub-County, Siaya County. He also set up the Nursing Council of Kenya, an accredited and TVET-approved school of nursing that has been in the top 10 ranked nursing schools in the whole country in 2018 and 2019.


For his humble background and strong passion to serve his rural community, Dan was recognized as the Next List Heroes by CNN in 2012. Dan is also involved in supporting education in his community. He founded and serves on the board of management of Lifunga Girls Secondary School. He also serves on the board of management of Ukwala High School – his former high school. He serves as the chair of Ukwala High School Alumni Association. As a Rotarian, he has served as the Director of Community Projects, Rotary Club of Milimani, Nairobi.

He earned an MBA in health care management at Strathmore Business School; a bachelor of commerce (management science) at Strathmore University; a diploma in business management at Kenya Institute of Management; and an HIV & general counselling certificate at Kenya Association of Professional Counsellors. He is currently pursuing CPA (Section 2), KASNEB. He is working on his Ph.D. proposal at Strathmore Business School.
