Bahati Satir Omar

Bahati Satir Omar serves as founder and executive director of Uwezo Youth Empowerment, working with youth with disabilities and their families to amplify their voices for meaningful inclusion. He mentors young professionals with disabilities and guides them to overcome adversities to reach greater heights.

With over fifteen years of experience in the disability sector in the region, Bahati has significantly contributed to helping thousands of his fellow youth with disabilities in Rwanda through advocacy, mentored education, enabled WASH, digital inclusion, and securing livelihoods.

He is an experienced trainer and consultant on disability equality and inclusion at different levels of human development. Bahati’s honors include being recognized as one of Rwanda’s visually impaired social entrepreneurs in 2013. In 2016, Bahati was awarded the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders and featured in The Guardian among 10 activists changing lives of disabled people worldwide.
