Request A Grant

The Segal Family Foundation supports a wide range of projects and organizations. However, there are some common themes found among our partners:

• Willingness to collaborate with other partners
• Dynamic leadership (African and/or expatriate)
• Some track record of initiative and success
• Innovative programming that may be replicated
• Systematic reporting and program evaluation mechanisms
• Operating in a stable community or region (eg- day-to-day security is not an issue)
• We focus primarily on East African initiatives but will consider applications from elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa

Materials to submit:

• Brief description of your organization (approximately 2 pages):
  • Background information:
    • Name of organization
    • Geographic area of operation
    • Mission
    • Main activities
  • Funding request:
    • Description of specific projects for which funds are requested
    • Budget summary for these specific projects
    • Timeline for these specific projects
    • Impact Assessment:
      • What does success look like for this project?
      • How will you measure this?
  • Explanation of how these efforts reflect the mission of the Segal Family Foundation
  • Description of how you found out about the Segal Family Foundation
  • Contact information
• Most recent Form 990 for 501(c)3 organizations or an approximation of your expected contributions/revenue and operating budget for 2011
• Supporting documents or media

• Upon receipt of your request for funding, the SFF team will review your submission and contact you with any additional questions.
