Building Community

Building Community 2017-10-18T19:00:35+00:00

Throughout the year, we bring together our partners and friends for a variety of events. Our community is encouraged to network, celebrate, and learn during our network summits, various educational workshops, and informal cocktail hours, from Kigali to New York City, from Kampala to Nairobi. Partners can explore common ground and shared solutions; funders can meet grantees; and everyone can celebrate the achievements of this amazing cohort. The culmination of these events is our Annual Meeting, attended by over 200 partners and friends.

Annual Meeting

Our Annual Meeting has been known to include inspiring keynote speakers, breakout sessions, a pitch competition, an awards dinner, the SFF World Cup, sunrise yoga, and lots of dancing. The location alternates between East Africa and New York/New Jersey.

Health Network

We support nearly 60 organizations working in the health sector, tackling health challenges in ways that best address the needs of the communities in which they work. Our health partners manage primary care facilities, conduct health outreach, and run behavior change communications campaigns.

Youth Network

We support over 100 grassroots organizations working with youth to address the critical challenges that young people face today. Our education partners provide youth education and empowerment through formal education programs, sponsorship programs, vocational training, social entrepreneurship, job training, and employment.

Country Networks

We hold country-level SFF events, which engage our partners and wider community of collaborators at the country level. This includes incubators and accelerators, private donors, bilateral donors, governments, social enterprises, and NGOs.

Throughout the year, we provide opportunities for each network to connect—online and in person—to share innovations, build new relationships, and rekindle existing partnerships.
