| The vision for NCV starts with Floriane Brown, a native of Rwanda.
Floriane was born in Bujumbura, Burundi in 1958. Separated from her mother within a year of her birth, Floriane was raised by her father’s legal wife. Until age 8, she believed this woman was her real mother and did not understand why some of her siblings were treated differently.
Understanding this reality transformed her world as things began to make sense. As you can imagine, this experience gave Floriane many feelings similar to what orphans living in Rwanda experience today. From that moment on, Floriane’s heart was for children who share similar dynamics of her childhood.
It was not until age 18 that she was reintroduced to her biological mother. Shortly thereafter, Floriane began a slow migration through Belgium, towards the United States to pursue her education. She eventually settled in Minnesota and married her husband, Rodney Brown. Though she experienced a successful career both in business and in motherhood, her heart still had a special place for the orphans.
Over the past 4 years, Floriane assembled a team of like-minded individuals and immersed herself in her calling. Many hours of hard work and several trips to Rwanda are leading to making her vision a reality. Today, NCV is a registered nonprofit in both in the US and Rwanda. The organization is governed by 12 board members. The Rwandan government has donated twenty three (23) acres of land and the construction site plans have been drawn.
